Deep Clean vs. Regular Clean: What's Actually Different?

- tips
“Do I need a deep clean?” is the most common question we get from first-time clients. Here’s the difference in plain terms, so you can book the right service the first time.
A regular clean maintains. A deep clean resets.
A regular (general) clean keeps a maintained home at its baseline: dusting reachable surfaces, vacuuming and mopping, kitchens wiped down, bathrooms cleaned and sanitized. It assumes the home was professionally cleaned within the last month or so.
A deep clean goes after everything a regular clean doesn’t touch:
- Baseboards, door frames, and window sills — hand-wiped
- Tile grout and shower-glass buildup scrubbed, not just sprayed
- Cabinet fronts and detailed hand-wiping of furniture
- Light fixtures, vents, and ceiling fans (everything safely reachable)
- Behind and beside appliances where access allows
- Inside the microwave (and inside other appliances on request)
How to know which one you need
Book a deep clean if any of these are true:
- It’s been 3+ months since a professional cleaning
- You’re moving in or out
- You’re prepping for an event, guests, or the holidays
- Allergies are flaring and dusting alone isn’t helping
- It’s your first visit with a new cleaning company
That last one matters: starting a recurring schedule with a deep clean means every regular visit after it keeps your home at that reset baseline, instead of slowly chasing built-up grime.
How long does each take?
Every home is different, but typical ranges we see in Washington County:
| Home size | Regular clean | Deep clean |
|---|---|---|
| Condo / small home | 1.5–2.5 hrs | 3–4 hrs |
| 3 bed / 2 bath | 2–3 hrs | 4–6 hrs |
| Large home (4+ bed) | 3–4 hrs | 6–8+ hrs |
